Roe At 50:
Abortion Access From Now On

January 18, 2023
@
5:30 pm
- 6:30 pm

It’s been six months since the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe v. Wade, and we are living through a once-in-a-generation moment around reproductive freedom. We face a period of intense change and also intense confusion, as misinformation continues to spread rapidly, some of it intentionally propagated by anti-abortion groups. Each day brings a new development–from the FDA’s recent decision to expand access to medication abortion, to news of more pregnant people being denied essential medical care because of near-total abortion bans in 13 states.

So where do we go next in 2023, particularly when we know that it will be birthing people of color who will experience the most harm in this moment?

On Wednesday, January 18th–just ahead of what would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. WadeThe Meteor will host Roe At 50: Abortion Access From Now On. This virtual briefing will feature leading advocates sharing their perspectives on the reproductive justice movement, and mapping out what comes next in the fight for our freedom. You’ll learn:

  • What we’re all getting wrong about abortion…and how we can fix it.
  • How the anti-abortion movement, at its core, has always been about upholding white supremacy.
  • How to find information and resources on where to get abortions right now.
  • The most valuable things that individuals can do to support the reproductive justice movement.

We’ll hear from the experts about both challenges and solutions, including:

  • Renee Bracey Sherman, founder & executive director of We Testify and co-author of the forthcoming book, Countering Abortionsplaining
  • Brittany Packnett Cunningham, award-winning activist and the host of The Meteor’s feminist news podcast, UNDISTRACTED
  • Moderator Regina Mahone, senior editor at The Nation and co-author with Renee Bracey Sherman of Countering Abortionsplaining

Please join The Meteor on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. for this free briefing, and spread the word—everyone is welcome to participate!
